The first program for eco-entrepreneurship, Ecostar natural talents
The Forestry sector has always been very traditional in its uses and exploitations but thanks to globalization, new communications and global awareness on the importance of the environment progressively, new working fields are being developed due to the introduction and use of new technologies.
Step by step, there are more entrepreneurial foresters who are developing new business ideas and projects but unfortunately these beginnings are difficult due to the lack of information about how to develop an innovative idea and turn it into a business plan and, above all, the difficulties to get support and financing to make it real.
In this framework, ECOSTAR Natural Talents is born, the first research-enterprise impact hub to promote and to accelerate of the start-ups focused on innovative and sustainable solutions applied to agriculture, forestry and natural resources management.
To this end, the University of Padua and Etifor have joined forces with the Universities Polytechnic of Madrid, Manchester and Brasov, international companies such as Fledge, Nepcon, Ricardo or Forest Design and the Erasmus + program of the European Union, in order to provide online training and advice improving entrepreneurship and innovation skills addapted to entrepreneurs who focus their business models on the marketing, promotion and improvement of biodiversity and ecosystem services.
The initiative offers real business opportunities and benefits for the environment not only for entrepreneurs but also allows companies through their participation as both investors and mentors in the different projects to be developed.Actually, there are more than 400 involved mentors working on ECOSTAR natural talents.
